VidSpeak is an antivirus application for Windows. The program is mainly used in PCs that are configured to allow speech recognition and video/audio conferencing, such as Windows CE and Pocket PC. It was developed by two IT students who were attending the International Computer Week Prague (ICW) in 1996. They created and patented a computer based system for visualizing voice interaction, called "ZigZag Speech Recognition", which later became VidSpeak.
This software is used in various industries for the convenience of their users. It allows users to stream audio and video from their personal computers to any standard PC or Laptop with an appropriate graphics adapter. This simplifies advanced tele-presence systems, where video conferencing app is integrated into a larger picture in order to present more information in the same view, which is done in this case with a small camera on the desktop of the targeted user. However, the main purpose of this software is for simple video/audio conferencing, with other applications being available for complex communication needs.
There are several advantages for using Vid Speak. First, it is a free web-based video conferencing tool built on the same technology used by Microsoft Office. It supports many common file formats, such as HD, DVD, MP3, and JPEG, making it highly flexible and useful for any type of presentation. Second, it helps people stay connected and share information in a faster, more convenient and a more effective way than calling and waiting for long periods of time. And third, the cost of setting up a tele-presence solution using this product has been slashed by over half as compared to other similar products on the market.
